"Volume III - Capricornus and its Decan Constellations"

Capricornus and its Decan Constellations.

Decan 3-4

Denderah Decan 3 is seen as a female figure with a hawk head, and no crown is wearing a long white robe with two stars under her left hand.    Above and behind the head of Decan 3 and above Decan 2 are a pattern of a hieroglyph of a hawk and 3 stars.    If so, then this is the name for Hor, which can also be seen as the name for the Grand Temple Decan 18 whose deity is giving it one connection between them.
Since Decan 3 is seen as a netjeru in human form, it represents a spiritual understanding.

Upon inspection of the Denderah Zodiac one cannot see any hieroglyphs for Denderah Decan 3 as seen below, but one source shows it having these hieroglyphs, which are not seen.    If so then this is below Capricornus front foot and begins with either
    the face sign, Egypt. hr,
or the Egyptian head figure for Tep,
and then it has the lower arm sign, Egypt. a,
and is followed by a star.
    This would read as either
       [hr-a] as in Hor
or [Tep a or Tepi a], which can be seen on Grand Temple Decan 10 or 19.

Denderah Decan 3 is Seshat, Female Intuition.    From www.siloam.net it states, "Seshat was the origin of all the wisdom of Thoth.    Seshat was the essence of cosmic intuition, and the mistress of measure.    Whenever a new project was undertaken, the Egyptian priests enacted the interplay of Seshat at the creation of the cosmos by the ceremony of the stretching of the cord.    Her magic wand with its seven pointed star (See Bootes) was the symbol which represented the source of all creative ideas."    "... and a serpent headed female." (Seshat)    In one image a Great Man, User-Maat-Re, wears the atef crown in the stretching of the cord scene, and he is also shown in the temple axis as a man with Thoth’s atef crown.    Also see Denderah Decan 2 and Denderah Decan 26 for more on Sheshat.

From www.siloam.net/denderah it claims that Denderah Decan 1, 2, and 3 represented as Thoth-Aries-Seshat are entitled as "Humble Alignment."    "The great rational being, signified by the large strutting ram (see Denderah Decan 35), is brought down in size by the wisdom of Thoth (Denderah Decan 1), and becomes a Humble Ram (Denderah Decan 2)."    "Beyond the Humble Ram is the wife of Thoth, Seshat (Denderah Decan 3)."    Thoth has a bird's head (Ibis), who is considered as the written message, and rational wisdom.    Seshat has a serpent's head, and considered as conception, inspiration, and intuitive wisdom.

If compared to Denderah Decan 3, we find a connection in the hawk head and Horus crown, and the two stars above it.

Grand Temple Decan 18 is a male figure with the Double Crown (Pshent, unification of the white and red crown) or Horus combination of upper and lower Egypt crown on his head also seen on Grand Temple Decan 18 and 19, and above him are three stars (two above crown and one in front of the scepter).

This Decan was called Semdet, Semt, or Semed, seen as
the folded cloth sign, Egypt. s,
and the owl sign, Egypt. m,
next the hand sign, Egypt. d,
then the bread loaf sign, Egypt. t,
followed by a star.
This reads [s-m-d-t], seen also on Grand Temple Decan 19, but different.
As seen on "http://home.main.rr.com/imyunnut/Den.Round.html" by Joanne Conman, Semed possibly means "The Division of the Year," as in "this decan marks the winter solstice, and the half-way point through the year.    Semed was the name of the Full Moon Festival held every month."    Of interest as seen in the Capricornus Introduction is the Sumerian ezem-mah (ezem, festivity + mah, great), is also the Great Festival in the ninth month of the year, as well as here in the tenth reflecting the beginning of the winter months.

Its deity is Hor (Heru), which can be seen behind the head of Denderah Decan 3 as a hawk and three stars.

See Denderah Decan 26 for more on Seshat.
