Cancer and its Decan Constellations.
Ursa Minor
On the Denderah Zodiac, Ursa Minor is seen as either a jackal, a wolf-like animal or as a small dog by the thigh of Ursa Major. Ursa Minor seems to be standing on a ploughshare, or sickle, which is the Egyptian hieroglyph representing the letters mr, meaning, "to love."
In "The Dawn of Astronomy" by J. Norman Lockyer, New York, The McMillian Company 1897, as seen on page 363, "With regard to Anubis, it is quite certain that seven stars in Ursa Minor make a very good jackal with pendent tail, as generally represented by the Egyptians, and that they form the nearest compact constellation to the pole of the ecliptic." |
![]() Ursa Minor as seen above on the Grand Temple is located above Decan 12 between Sagittarius and Scorpius, which is out of sequence for the traditional position with Cancer. |
In "The Witness of the Stars," by E.W. Bullinger, page 151-154 he reports nothing as to Ursa Minor on the Denderah Zodiac, as if it is being ignored.
In the "Gospel of the Stars", by Joseph Seiss, on page 127 it is claimed that Lyra is "Fent-Har, the Serpent-Bruiser or horrifier in Denderah, a great female with the head of a swine, the enemy of the earth and holding in her hand a great ploughshare, symbol of tearing up, bruising, turning under." Of course that image is not seen on the Denderah Zodiac for Lyra as specified above. This sounds mysteriously like Bootes seen below with an animal like head and holding a ploughshare or sickle. Mr. Seiss must be in error here. ![]() On the Denderah of Zodiac, Bootes is seen as a male figure with a swine-like head and horn or crescent-shaped crown holding in both hands a great ploughshare or sickle. From www.siloam.net/denderah it is claiming that the jackal (Anubis) with the plow under its feet is Lupus standing on the Little Dipper (Ursa Minor). This is based on the "beast" connection and the assumption that the Egyptian plow symbol solely represents Ursa Minor, but this is not correct. See the Decan of Lupus for better information on where Lupus is on the Denderah Zodiac. Also claimed and unsure where this could have come from is that the Little Dipper may be in the womb of Draco-Tauret, go to Decan of Draco for better information on this regarding Corona Borealis. |
