a Arae (no name) is the second brightest star of Ara.
- One source claims this star is named Choo or Tchou, meaning "staff/club," or "pestle," (Chinese).
b Arae (no name) is the brightest star of Ara.
g Arae (no name) is a double star.

- One source claims that there is an e1 and e2.
Altar.
- Hebrew mizbeach, miz-bay'-akh, from Heb. zabach, zaw-bakh', a primary root to slaughter an animal (usually in sacrifice), kill, offer, (do) sacrifice, slay, thus an altar.
- One source calls it the Heb. mizbeah, place of slaughter, or Gr. bomos, in Acts only, and thysiasterion.
- Greek thumiasterion, thoo-me-as-tay'-ree-on, from a der. of Gr. thumiao, a place of fumigation, i.e. the altar of incense (in the Temple), censer.
- Septuagint, the Greek Thusiasterion, altar is seen in Gen. 8:20, Revelation 6:9.
