"Volume III - Calendar Dates"

This page provides comparison of the Ancient Egyptian Festival Calendar, with Tropical, Julian and the Gregorian dating, with the Ancient Egyptian name of each of the Netjeru (Gods/Goddesses) and any Greek equivalent.    Although, as you can see below.    I have the months lined up in Chronological order beginning with Capricornus and ending with Aquarius.--------     To return to Denderah Decan 0 or 37.

Select one of the following to go to that subject:
Constellation Months:    (10) Capricornus  (9) Sagittarius  (8) Scorpius  (7) Libra  (6) Virgo  (5) Leo
       (4) Cancer  (3) Gemini  (2) Taurus  (1) Aries  (12) Pisces  (11) Aquarius
Egyptian Months:    (6) Menchir  (5) Tybi  (4) Choiach  (3) Athyr  (2) Phaophi  (1) Thuthi
       (12) Mesori  (11) Epiphi  (10) Payni  (9) Pachons  (8) Pharmuthi  (7) Phamoneth
Egyptian Season-Number:    Peret II  Peret I  Akhet IV  Akhet III  Akhet II  Akhet I
Shomu IV  Shomu III  Shomu II  Shomu I  Peret IV  Peret III

Also note that all the Egyptian months and days in regard to the Gregorian calendar are around one month out of synch with the dates specified for the same constellation as referenced for the modern Zodiac and the Hebrew month.
In "The Dawn of Astronomy" a study of the temple-worship and mythology of the Ancient Egyptians by J. Norman Lockyer, New York, The McMillian Company 1897, as seen on page 253-254, "The Sirius year, like the Julian was about eleven minutes longer than the true year, so that in 3,000 years we should have a difference of about 23 days.    Biot showed by his calculations using solar tables extant before those of Leverrier, that from 3,200 B.C. to 200 B.C. in the Julian year of the chronologists, Sirius had constantly, in each year, risen helically on July 20, which in Julian equals June 20 in the Gregorian."
In the image above as seen on Lockyer's page 276, he shows the Month-Table at the Ramesseum, with the hieroglyphic names and image of the Nerteru for each Egyptian month.    It should also be noted that each of the neteru seem to be facing each other in pairs of six, which may have been done for asthetics, instead of the usual facing one direction to determine the read on the hieroglyphs.    I found it interesting that it starts from left to right beginning with Capricornus and ending with Aquarius.    More on these names and images can be seen below and on the constellation's Decan page.    Another interesting point is the gap or spaced area centered between month 1 and 12, which turns out to be the area that represents the epo gomena, is left blank with no hieroglyphs or images.
He continues on page 269, "The signs used for the tetramenes (seasons) are suppose to represent water, a field with growing plants, and a barn; the natural order would be that the first should represent the inundation, the second the sowing which succeeds its and the last harvest-time."
As to the calendar these are referred to as:

In "The Dawn of Astronomy" a study of the temple-worship and mythology of the Ancient Egyptians by J. Norman Lockyer, New York, The McMillian Company 1897, as seen on page 247-248, in regard to the actual days in a year 365.242392 (365 1/4 days), "The five days were added as epacts or epa gomena; the original months were not altered, but a 'little month' of five days was interpolated at the end of the year between Mesori of one year and Thoth of the next, as already stated."
In our present day calendar of 365 1/4 days a year, we have a leap year added every four years on February 29 to account for the 1/4 day variance.    So the following fix to the Egyptian calandar did not correct inaccuracies over the centuries.    Because the Egyptians had used a 360 day year of twelve, 30 day months, these five days were added to account for the variance in the year.    As you can see the Egyptians made them into something special, in celebrating the birthdays of the children of Shu and Tefnet.
To return to Denderah Decan 0 or 37, which may represent the epa gomena and is between Capricornus and Aquarius, which is the opposite location of Leo.

In "The Dawn of Astronomy" a study of the temple-worship and mythology of the Ancient Egyptians by J. Norman Lockyer, New York, The McMillian Company 1897, in regard to the Land of Punt as seen on page 347, "... those particular gods who I have found to be associated with the southern stars came from a locality called the land of Punt.
Punt was always considered a 'Holy Land.'    Hathor was 'Queen of the Holy Land,' 'Mistress and Ruler of Pun-t.'    Amen-Ra was 'Hak' or 'King' of Pun-t, and Horus was the Holy Morning star which rose to the west of the land of Pun-t.
Maspero refers to an ancient tradition that the land of Pun-t could be reached by going up the Nile, where eventually one came to an unknown sea which bathed the land of Pun-t
