Star Names of Cetus
a Menkar, Men'kar or Men'kab, which is an Arabic word for "nostrils" or "nose."
- Arabic Al-Minkhar, "The nostril." Min in Arabic means "belonging to."
- Others state that it means "The Bound" or "Chained Enemy," to refer to Satan as the great enemy chained by Christ, the strong One.
- In "The Witness of the Stars," by E.W. Bullinger, page 113 "a Menkar, the bound or chained enemy (upper mandible)."
- In the "Gospel of the Stars," by Joseph Seiss, page 95 "Menkar, the chained Enemy."
- Other names for Menkar: Al Min'ha, Mekab, Menkab, Mon'kar.
b Deneb Kaitos or De'neb Kai'tos at the other end of Cetus is a combination of Arabic Deneb "tail of the" + Greek Ketus, "sea monster," thus meaning, "tail of the sea monster."
- Arabic Dhanab Qaytus means, "tail of Cetus."
- Other names for Deneb Kaitos: Denebcaiton, Dha'nab al Kai'tos al Janubi'yy, Shemali (?).
- Sometimes called Diphda, which means "second frog" in Arabic, possibly representing a second group of demonic false Christs.
- Arabic Ad-Difdi, "The frog."
- Frogs.
- Hebrew tsephardea', tsef-ar-day'-ah, from Heb. tsephar, tsaw-far', to skip, thus a swamp, a marsh-leaper, frog.
- Others say that Diphda means "The Overthrown."
- Overthrow.
- Hebrew haphak, haw-fak', Heb. haras, haw-ras', Heb. naphal, naw-ful', Heb. 'avath, aw-vath', Heb. shamad, shaw-mad', Heb. shamat, shaw-mat'.
- Christ has come to this world to overthrow the kingdom and power of Satan who is thus held by Aries in Bondage. (Note: the connection to the word frog Gr. batrachos, bat'-rakh-os, in Revelation with the 3 evil spirits.).
- In "The Witness of the Stars," by E.W. Bullinger, page 113 "b Diphda, or Deneb Kaitos, overthrown, or thrust down."
- In the "Gospel of the Stars," by Joseph Seiss, page 95 "Diphda, the Overthrown, the Thrust-down."
- Other names for Diphda: Dif'da, Difda al Thani, Rana Secunda, the "Second Frog," (the "First Frog" is Fomalhaut in Piscis Austrinus), Al Difdi' Al Thani.
g Kaffaljidhma which is Arabic for "head of the sea monster."
- Originally the name for all the stars making up the circlet of stars that forms Cetus's head.
- Another source states g Kaffaljidhma means "cut-short hand" (reaching from Pleiades).
- Arabic Al-Kaff al-Jadhma', "The cut-short hand."
- Other names for Kaffaljidhma: Al Kaff al Jidh'mah (Judh'mah), Sadr al Kaitos or Ketus.
z Baten Kaitos or Bat'en Kaitos which is a combination of the Arabic Batn "belly of the" + Greek Ketus, "sea monster," thus meaning, "belly of the sea monster."
- Arabic Batn Qaytus, "belly of Cetus."
- Arabic #28 Batn al Hut, Arrexhe, Al Batn al Hut, "Belly of the Fish."
- Another source shows Arabic lunar station #26 Batn al Kut (? e Ceti), Kalb al Hut, Al Risha (a Piscium).
- Under Aries is the star name d Botein, Arabic, "belly," is defined as follows.
- Belly.
- Hebrew beten, beh'-ten, from an unused root probably meaning to be hollow, the belly, especially the womb; also the bosom or body of anything.
- Sumerian tłn: n., wrap, bandage; pouch, case; stomach; lip; adj., intact, bound.
- Sumerian ag4, ą: n., intestines; gut; heart; stomach; abdomen; entrails; womb; midst, inside; bed of a river; prep., in; at.
- Other names for Baten Kaitos: Batn al Kaitos or Ketus, Bat'enel Kai'tas, Bat'enkaiton.
h Cetae (no name) which marks the fork in the tail of Cetus.
q or J Cetae (no name) it is in the body of the monster.
i Cetae (no name).
- One source calls this Schemali, probably from Deneb Kaitos Shemali, Deneb Kaitos Al Shamaliyy.
o Mira is the best-known variable star in the sky.
- The mere discovery of a variable star lent support to the Copernican revolution in astronomy and furthered the collapse of the old beliefs.
- o Ceti (Mira) changes in a period of 332 days, taking seven months to wane and three months to wax.
- One-source states it means "wonderful," the Latin root for such words as "miracle." Mira has a connection to the birth of Jesus Christ, Isaiah 9 called him wonderful, Counselor, etc. gibbor.
- Miracle (Latin miraculum) means marvelous event or an event that causes wonder.
- The biblical words designating miracles are:
- Hebrew mowpheth, mo-faith', or mopheth, miracle.
- Greek thauma, "wonder"; pele' and teras, "portent".
- Heb. gevhevah and Gr. dynamis, "display of power."
- Hebrew 'owth, oth, or 'oth, a signal and Gr. semeion, an indication or "sign."
- Some claim that the Hebrew name for Mira means "Rebel."
- Rebel.
- Hebrew marad, maw-rad', to rebel.
- Hebrew marah, maw-raw, to be bitter, to rebel.
- Satan was Lucifer, the rebel angel who rebelled against God.
